Hyewon Lee
Independent Curator, Researcher & Publisher
Hyewon Lee is a curator, researcher, and publisher based in Seoul, whose work explores the intersections between socially and culturally defined norms and their opposites. Her notable exhibitions and projects include People Buying Land in the DMZ (A-O-Y Seoul, Seoul, 2025); Unexpected Interpolation and Nearest Neighbor Search (Incheon Art Platform, Incheon, 2025); From Recent Rumors and Old Traces (CHAMBER, Seoul, 2025); On—boarding: Going to Space, Loving in Space, part of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art's Performing Arts 2024 "Space Elevator" (MMCA, Seoul, 2024); and The Radiant City, Dark Rapture―Dystopic Images of the Modern City (SeMA Bunker, Seoul, 2024). In her publishing work, she co-translated Techno-Orientalism 2.0: New Intersections and Interventions (2026); Noir Urbanisms: Dystopic Images of the Modern City (2024); and Monstrosity: Human Monsters in Visual Culture (2021). Lee was selected as a 2026 Fulbright Graduate Student Program (GSP) scholar, a researcher for the 2026 Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) Research Residency Program, and a curator for the Seoul Museum of Art's Emerging Artists & Curators 2024 program.
