This project text, commissioned by Monthly Art for the Curator’s Voice section, offers an in-depth exploration of the exhibition The Radiant City, Dark Rapture―Dystopic Images of the Modern City. The article critically examines the exhibition’s conceptual underpinnings and curatorial framework, articulating how each commissioned work reflects and extends these ideas through spatial design and site-specific installation strategies. Central to the discussion is the exhibition’s investigation of “cyberpunk dystopia,” as expressed in the imagined and widely circulated visual narratives of Seoul and Pyongyang. By mapping these layered representations, the project reflects on how contemporary urban imagery operates as both a medium of cultural critique and a lens through which to reconsider the intertwined histories and futures of the two cities.
