『미르메콜레온』은 동명의 다원 예술 프로젝트의 연계 출판물로, 범고래출판사의 편집 및 출판 지원을 통해 완성되었다. ‘미르메콜레온’이라는 제목은 동양의 용두사미(龍頭蛇尾)와 유사한 신화적 존재에서 차용되었다. 이는 육식을 해야만 하는 사자의 머리를 지녔으나, 먹을 수 없는 개미의 몸을 가진 채 태어나 결국 굶어 죽는 존재를 의미한다. 이러한 상징은 잠재적 가능성 안에 머물고자 하면서도 앞으로 나아가기를 거부하는 심리적 상태를 포착한다. 본 출판물은 이와 같은 상징을 통해, 개인의 내면에 잠재된 욕망과 정체성, 그리고 그로부터 파생되는 예술적 상상력을 다각도로 탐구하는 프로젝트를 소개한다.

Myrmecoleon is a publication produced in conjunction with a multidisciplinary art project, edited and published with the support of ORCABOOKS. The title draws on a mythical creature reminiscent of the Eastern metaphor “dragon’s head, snake’s tail”: a being born with a lion’s head that requires meat yet bearing an ant’s body incapable of consuming it, ultimately starving to death. This symbol encapsulates a psychological condition—the desire to linger within one’s latent potential while simultaneously refusing to move forward. Through this metaphor, the publication introduces a project that examines the desires, identities, and artistic imaginaries emerging from such states of suspended possibility.
